Deadhead is not free mileage. Empty miles still consume fuel, maintenance reserve, tires and a share of fixed truck costs. The correct comparison is usually the revenue earned across all miles required to position and complete the load.

What the deadhead result means
The tool compares the same offered load with the entered deadhead against a zero-deadhead version. It shows the extra modeled operating cost, the reduction in estimated profit and the change in all-mile RPM.
Use this alongside reload conditions and appointment risk; a lower-deadhead load is not automatically better if the freight, destination or timing creates other costs.
