Owner-Operator Cost Per Mile Calculator

Your cost per mile is the operating baseline behind every load decision. This calculator separates monthly fixed costs from per-mile fuel and reserve costs so you can see what it costs to move the truck before revenue-based fees.

What this calculator includes

APR uses the carrier profile saved in your browser: truck and trailer payments, insurance, ELD/software, permits and plates, parking, administration, expected monthly miles, diesel price, MPG, maintenance reserve, tire reserve and other variable cost per mile.

Your saved carrier profile is reused automatically. Edit carrier profile.

How to use the result

Use base operating CPM as a starting point, not as a complete rate target. Dispatch, factoring, driver compensation and other percentage-of-revenue fees are modeled separately because they depend on the revenue of a specific load. Profit also needs to sit above break-even.

For a load-specific decision, use the APR Load Decision Engine. For the underlying cost framework, read True Cost Per Mile for Owner-Operators.
